Baby Names... and their meanings...

I thought I would look more into the names that we are currently working with... we have our vote going on and basically once work out which ones we really like we will pick three names and then wait until baby is born before we decide on his name... So below are the names that we are playing with :-)

Aaron - (Hebrew) Enlightened, to sing
Ashton - (English) Settlement in the Ash-Tree grove
Blake - (English) Dark, Bright
Henry - (Germanic) Ruler of the home
Jackson - (English) Jack's Son
Jacob - (Hebrew) Supplanter, held by the heel
Kristan - (English) Follower of Christian faith (taken from Christian)
Tristan - (Gaelic) Tumult
Vincent - (Latin) Victorious

So.... Boys Name...

Throwing around a few ideas now we have to get serious about names and came up with quiet a list... which ones do you like...

click here for list / vote

Another Boy!

Well home from the scan and we have been blessed with another boy, everything looked good. I'm a little confused with the dates as they have put different dates as my EDD but I'm guessing it's just a typo error as it's only a few days out. I'll bring that up with the OB next week on my next visit.

The scan was no where near the quality of the last scan we had, but they made mention of not only the "maternal habitus" but also the abdominal wall scarring from my previous issue. I'll also be bring that up with the OB at my next appointment as it would be interesting to know how much trouble that scar tissue could be when bub arrives.

So it's out with the pink (not that we brought any) and in with the BLUE!!!!!

19 weeks, 3 days...

Only two more days until we see this little bundle again and find out what sex we are carrying... can't wait :-)

Today I put our pram on layby at Target... we spent the weekend searching for something that we can ONE afford, TWO don't look like the aliens will steel the baby when it in, & THREE does the jobs we require...

We decided on the Steelcraft Crusier Stroller, which can work along with the matching infant seat. It also will last until the little one gets to around Ethan's height, so many prams now a days won't last height wise and I didn't want something that would only last a short time. The baby can face forward or back towards the person pushing it, and the sun shade covers a great deal of the child sitting it in. I want something with a bit of value and the bonus is that it was on special (which is why we put it on layby now) down from $349 to $199.

Where does time go...

Although the days are dragging, and time seems to be going oh so slow... I haven't managed to find time to do any updates... I spouse it's more due to the fact that I'm in between visits with OB and my countdown to our scan is still more than two weeks away... 2 weeks 2 days to be exact.

I don't have a feeling this time on what this little one will be, I thought Ethan was a girl before our scan, and I had feelings that Hayden would be a boy... but after doing family daycare for my sister yesterday (Mon - Wed actually) and having to look after a 3 month old baby girl I think I'm more prepared for a little boy... her nappy change was a mission... just not use to cleaning up a little girls bottom... boys are soooooo much easier.

Been in quiet a bit of pain the last few days, I'm guessing its from all the extra work I'm doing, if I hadn't been pregnant before it would be a "urgent" call to the hospital but from prior knowledge I am putting it down to ligament pain. Although it's not one sided like my other pregnancies *tended to get one side at a time* it's right the way across... maybe it's not the ligaments at all maybe it's the scan... Either way it is super uncomfortable and not even laying in bed helps...

Our baby is now 13cms long, and weighing a little over 140grams... it can now hear loud noises and has developed the startle reflex, which makes it jump when it hears those loud noises Ethan makes :-) Fingers crossed it won't be long until I can feel regular movements.

15 Weeks...

Time is on a go slow at the moment... and I believe it's all because of the 4 weeks wait ahead of me until my scan... I'm so excited to be able to find out what this little bubble inside of me is... a boy... a girl... won't know until then... I thought about trying the whole "drano" test but we don't have it in the cupboard and I'm not going to go out and buy it when I don't REALLY need it.

I'm sure I've had a few flutters recently... nothing too strong, just like a gentle random prod inside but I have to be laying extremely still and not really concentrating on anything... should only be a few more weeks before I can tell for certain as it will be more often... I missed the feeling after both of the boys births... so it's awesome to be feeling it again... such a special feeling... can't wait until I share it with Josh and the kids.

I did something today that I don't do very often and that was to buy a parenting magazine and I was amazed at some of the new products out there... my favourite at the moment would have to be this idea... the spoon didn't look so big in the magazine as it does on the website but what a great idea.

You put the food into the handle and then squeeze it onto the spoon as required... such a random idea... but pretty good one don't you think :-)

OB Appointment - 14 weeks 5 days

Had our OB appointment yesterday, again went briefly over history (different OB) this is so going to get boring... she said that they wouldn't decide on when baby was to be born until 36 weeks as ANYTHING could happen between now and then... "things could get exciting" were her words. She was very direct and to the point, which amused me rather than upsetting, I have a referral to a dietitian, to try to and keep my weight pretty much the same for the rest of the pregnancy, but they won't manage me but give me the resources to do it on my own. I've booked in for my next scan which unfortunately isn't until 3rd December (19 weeks 6 days) as they are pretty busy in the hospital. She has asked for me to get some bloods done now so she has something to compare the next lot to (which are at 26-28 weeks) and she would also like to test for diabetes now and then again later due to my weight. Unfortunately we couldn't hear the baby's heart beat (too much interference on the machine) so she brought in a scanner and Josh and her got to see it (I was at the wrong angle).

So all in all a pretty good appointment, nothing "exciting" to report :-)

14 weeks

Yesterday we went to Whitewater World... man the sun was so strong and I think I got a little bit too much of it. I forget that it has more of an effect when pregnant, I should have gotten up a few hours before we left to find somewhere else to ploke my behind so I was in more shade... thumping headaches are not fun, especially when you can't go to bed as Ethan is still wide awake!

I can finally see a change in my body, as this baby grows... although baby is only 9cm's long, it's sure making itself comfortable by moving my insides around.

I'm trying to remember to take pictures along the way as with Ethan I didn't think I looked pregnant until the day before I had him and at that stage it was too late to get a belly cast done so many with this baby I might get around to it :-) or even some professional pictures taken instead with Hayden & Ethan.

I've gotten addicted to reading birth stories over the last week, all these wonderful woman bringing these beautiful babies into the world, and each journey has been so different. It's really made me wonder what it would be like to give birth naturally, a regret in some way that my body will not allow that choice to be made by me. After Hayden's birth my midwife basically told me that my birth canal was not the right shape to allow  Hayden to progress down which is why he was brought into this world via an emergency c-section. So my babies will always be c-section babies... but as long as they arrive safe and sound then what does it really matter on how they get here as which ever way they arrive it is always with love. But it doesn't stop the wondering... what if...

12 Week Scan

Here is a picture from this morning's scan of our little bub. We had an appointment at 11.10, and after about 20 minutes they gave up and asked me to go for a walk, get a cold drink of water and then come back as they couldn't get the measurements required for the screening for down syndrome. Went back into the scan room and after 45 minutes the second scanner was finally able to get the measurement, our risk dropped from 1:776 to 1:7493 so an awesome result, who knows we could be the 1 but even if those were the odds then we would love this baby just as much.

So with a heart rate of 163 bpm and a LONG crown to rump (measured two weeks ahead) we will have an expected due date of 23.04.2011 with the average of all the measurements putting bubs gestational age at 12 weeks, 5 days so they won't move the EDD.

The scanners were extremely impressed with the pictures that they did get of bub, they say some of them had more details than they expect to see at this stage... so it looks like this baby will definitely take after me... just amazing ;-)

Looks like this baby will also get my nose ;-)

12 Weeks :-)

We are now in the second trimester... seems like forever ago that we found out we were expecting another little bundle of joy, but I'm sure in another 26 weeks it will feel like it was over a lot faster than expected...

They now say that the little one is 6cm long, 14g in weight, and it's organs are starting to function... isn't it amazing that at this stage this little baby is beginning to function... and if I wasn't so 'chubby' you can even start to hear it's heart beat via a doppler... maybe we'll be lucky at our scan on Monday.

Apparently it's at this stage that I will start to notice that my breasts, hips, legs, sides and belly are growing larger... what an under statement... had to go bra shopping this week (been putting it off for the last two weeks) and I'm finding it challenging already on what clothes fit and what clothes just look ridiculous... fingers crossed there'll be something in the wardrobe that will look decent as we are going out for dinner tonight for a family friends 21st dinner, should be great to catch up again... best run and get ready, or atleast try...

12 Weeks... Tomorrow

I've been down with a head cold this week, it's been horrible being only able to take Panadol, that kind of does nothing to help the situation, the headaches have been so strong... but on an upside... only a few more days until we still the little one at our next scan.

I've spent quiet a bit of time on my digital scrap booking, it's a passion of mine that I let slip for way to long so I'm hoping to be able to catch up in some way :-) I'm trying to find a way to add my albums to this blog without taking up to much space... but until then you'll be able to see my additions on Facebook

11 Weeks...

Wow time is going so slow... ever since time was stolen back at 8 weeks, I went for my dating scan and my body wasn't as on track as I first though... we went back 2 weeks to 6 weeks and man I feel like I'm still living in the past. this week has been emotional, but I think that's more to do with the racing hormones than anything else.

Hayden's been here this week, goes home in 2 more sleeps :-( but his next visit is going to be three weeks long over Christmas, so that's something to look forward to. We went to Dreamworld twice, once on Thursday, and then again yesterday, we explored more of the park yesterday, even though it was raining most the day, and I even got to go on a ride... they don't recommend most of the rides for pregnant woman so I played it safe... but loved the rapid river... got soaked.

We were hoping to head back to white water world but the weather is just not playing the game. So maybe on Hayden's next visit!

Nappy Cake

Over the weekend I was lucky to be invited to a friends baby shower, so I decided to create something that I'd been wanting to try for a long time. I made her this nappy cake to help celebrate the up and coming birth of her little girl.

I'm hoping next time to including blankets :-)

Pregnancy Update

Today I had my second appointment at Mater Womans Hospital, where we saw a wonderful obstetrician. We went over my history and he advised that they would follow the plan designed by North Shore Hospital except he would normally book in the c-section for 38 weeks, not 38.5 and although he doesn't see the point of extra antibiotics he will give them if I prefer. I'll leave that decision to later as he made a lot of sense but I'm still pretty scared on the chance of another infection once this little one is born.

I booked into the Mater's ultrasound department as the obstetrician would like me to keep tests and scans in house so everything is in their system electronically. We have a date of 11th October for our 12 week scan, and I need to go for a blood test 5 days prior, they use the results from both (scan & bloods) to work out what the chances of little one having downs syndrome or trisomy 21.

Next appointment with the obstetrician is in four weeks so fingers crossed we'll be able to hear little ones heart beat :-)

Cot to Double Bed

Here is that cot I mentioned yesterday that converts from a cot into a double bed... and the price is amazing!!! only $309 plus postage, only down side is that it only comes in white... but that is nothing :-)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270626985420&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT#ht_4720wt_1054
Looks like this one will make the cut if it's still around when we come to purchasing things for the babies room.

Window Shopping

Window Shopping... how much do you love browsing the baby isles in the shops. So many cute items, so many options and due to our recent move we are having to start again with our baby furniture, so many of Ethan's items would have been ideal for a uni sexed baby room but all sold less than a year ago...

While virtual shopping I came across these two bedding packages, however being that one is for a girl and one a little boy I'll have to wait a few more weeks before I find out which one we'd be purchasing :-)

Aren't they adorable !!!!

Then I found this pretty neat cot, it changes into a single bed... I really like the dark wood but not sure it would go with the bed sets above...

http://www.babyzonedirect.com.au/grotime-rollover-5-in-1-cot.html
But I've also seen ones on Ebay that are cheaper and instead of a single bed go to a double bed!!! love the style of this one above just not the price.

Then there are prams... oh my!!! so space aged now!!!

The one I would really like is

But it appears that my sister might get in before me and get it for her family day care, the seat under neath is an optional purchase so stand it is a single seater.

I've decided to start a family blog as a personal diary that I'm more than willing to share. We are a family who live in two countries. Hayden my oldest son is living in New Zealand with his dad and he comes and visits in school holidays. I'd love it if he could come more often but unfortunately that's not about to happen. Josh, my husband, Ethan, our son, and myself live in Brisbane Australia and have been here for the last 9 months. As much as we love it here we'd prefer to be together, so we treasure are moments as a family in the school holidays. We are also expecting a little arrival in April next year, well maybe not so little as both boys were 9 pound + when born.
